Fire Emblem Gaiden

Nosferatu (Japanese: リザイア Resire) is a recurring magic tome which debuted in Fire Emblem Gaiden, and has appeared in all installments of the Fire Emblem series except Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light and its remake Shadow Dragon. In every appearance, it has an HP drain effect - the damage the tome deals to the enemy is used to heal the caster's own HP. While in the majority of appearances the amount of HP recovered is equal to the damage dealt to the enemy, some games modify the amount of recovered HP to half the damage dealt.

Throughout the series, Nosferatu has been given multiple weapon types, some seemingly contradictory with each other. It originated as a black magic spell in Gaiden exclusively used by Clerics and Saints, and is a general tome visually depicted as a holy spell in Mystery of the Emblem and its remake. It became a light tome in Genealogy of the Holy War when it introduced split magic types, and remained so Thracia 776, Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn; however, it is instead a dark tome in The Binding Blade, Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, The Sacred Stones and Awakening.

SSB.png This article or section is a short summary of Nosferatu.
SmashWiki features a more in-depth article.

Nosferatu will be Robin's down special move in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. It appears to be a close-range attack which heals Robin as it deals damage to the target. Like all of Robin's tome attacks, it will "break" after a set number of uses, but further details on this mechanic remain to be seen.

Trivia

  • Nosferatu has been classified as more different weapon types than any other weapon in the Fire Emblem series.
  • In Gaiden, Nosferatu is the only non-Falchion weapon which can harm Duma once he reaches 52 or less HP. This is assumed to be the result of a programming oversight: Duma is coded to force all non-Falchion attacks to have zero accuracy no matter what once he reaches this HP threshold, however this somehow fails to take into account Nosferatu's hard-coded absolute 50% hit rate, and so Nosferatu retains its 50% hit rate when fighting Duma.[1]
