Because I want to prove that you're no match for me! Um... Actually...I need to toughen up, or I might not survive these next battles. That's why.
— Mist to Boyd in their B support.

Mist (ミスト, Misuto) is a main character throughout Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. She is Ike's younger sister and is one of the few individuals that can touch the Fire Emblem without being possessed by its power. She is about the same age as Rolf, and they both join in Chapter 9 of Path of Radiance. She starts as a cleric and is the only playable character of this class in both games. She can only use staves as a cleric in Path of Radiance, but she can use swords as a cleric in its sequel.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

Role

In the beginning of Path of Radiance, Mist merely supports Ike. She and Rolf officially become playable in Chapter 9. Even after this, however, Mist continues to support her brother and the Greil Mercenaries while they fight against Daein. She also carries Lehran's Medallion during the game and is very upset when it is stolen. Mist often hums a song that was used as a lullaby for her and Ike when their mother Elena was still alive, that also turns out to be a heron melody known as the Galdr of Release.

Mist does not have much of a role in Radiant Dawn until later in Part 3 when she faints due to the effects of Lehran's Medallion. After Yune is released from the medallion, she decides to talk to Mist because of her balance of chaos and order.

Endings

Radiant Dawn

Mist, Healing Breeze
Mist was courted by many young suitors in her time. She gave the nod to none of them, and lived happily alone.

Mist (A support with Boyd)
Mist acted on her feelings for Boyd, marrying him. She cried during the vows, much to Boyd's chagrin.

— Mist, prior to the end of chapter 17 of Path of Radiance.
Ohhh… Forgive me, Ike… I messed up… [...] All right… I suppose I’d only be in the way like this… Be careful, Ike. Don’t you dare get killed!
— Mist, between chapters 18 and 28 in Path of Radiance.
Ow… Just a bit more… A bit more, and all this would be over. [...] … All right, Ike. I believe… I believe in you!
— Mist, in the final chapter of Path of Radiance.
Ugh… Uh… My body is…like ice… [...] Brother… …Why…am I…so cold? [...] Ugh… I’m…sorry… S-sorry…Brother… We…can’t be…together… again… …Father. M-Mother…
— Mist, in Radiant Dawn.
Oww! Hey, that hurts! Sorry, Ike. I’m going to pull back.
— Mist's retreat quote in part 3 chapter 13 of Radiant Dawn.
I'm sorry...Ike...
— Mist, in Smash Brethren 1 in Awakening.
I'm sorry...I wasn't more help...

Battle quotes

I’m going on now, Ike. I’ll be waiting for you, so hurry!
— Mist's normal escape quote in Path of Radiance.
I’m so sorry, Ike. I’m of no help at all…
— Mist's escape quote in chapter 27-2 of Path of Radiance.
… [...] …No…I will not be the only one who runs away!
— Mist, when fighting Muarim in chapter 15 of Path of Radiance.
That’s enough, Shinon! Why must friends fight? It’s all too terrible…
— Mist, when fighting Shinon in chapter 18 of Path of Radiance.
Y-you… You’re one of the dragon tribe, aren’t you? When we ran into trouble in the southern sea, the dragon prince rescued us! I don’t want to fight you! D-do I…have to? [...] Whoo-hooo!
— Mist, when fighting Ena in chapter 21 of Path of Radiance.
…Sniff…sniff… [...] You…you took my brother and my father! My sword may not even scratch you, but I don’t care. This one blow… will contain… all my anger…and all my pain…Rrrraaaaa! I’ll kill you!
— Mist, when fighting the Black Knight in chapter 27-2 of Path of Radiance.
As long as you’re alive, this war can not end. How many lives have you stolen with your selfishness? [...] Give me back my medallion! You aren’t supposed to have it! [...] I am! And like my father and mother before me, I will protect the world from your madness!
— Mist, when fighting Ashnard in the final chapter of Path of Radiance.
I’ll go on ahead, Brother. You’d better hurry! We’ll be waiting! Forgive me, Ike. I wasn’t able to help…
— Mist's escape quote in Radiant Dawn.
Jill! Why? Why are you doing this?! [...] But, Jill…

Please! Leave this place!
— Mist, in Smash Brethren 1 in Awakening.
Can we please stop this? Just go back to wherever it is you came from.

English

Mist

Mist or Misty is ultimately derived from the English "mist" or "fog".[2] Mist is also a valkyrie in Norse mythology.

Spanish

Mist

French

Mist

German

Alja

"Alja" means in the Arabian language "high ranked". In the Russian language "Alja" is a short form of "Aljona" and means "radiant". The reason why the translators changed the name "Mist" to "Alja" in the German version of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and Fire Emblem Awakening is probably because "Mist" means in the German language "dung", "rubbish" or "crud" depending on when the word "Mist" is used. In this case the German word "Mist" is inappropriate as a name for a living being.
