Marisa (Japanese: マリカ Marica), is a female myrmidon who appears in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. She is from the country of Jehanna, on the continent of Magvel. Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones

Role

In Eirika's route, Marisa appears as an enemy myrmidon hired by the enemy side. However, Gerik talks to her and says that if she betrays her employer, she'll soil her name. Marisa asks him what he would like her to do; Gerik says he would prefer for her to join him. Quickly, Marisa decides to join Eirika. Afterwards, she continues to fight with Eirika's army for the rest of the game.

In Ephraim's route, she first appears in Chapter 10 in a village, saying that she cannot use a certain item yet. She then leaves, and the player receives a Hero Crest. Then, in Chapter 12, Ewan appears in the beginning of the chapter, saying that he is looking for a woman named Marisa who was mistakenly sent to Taizel, the setting of the chapter, instead of somewhere else. Afterwards, Ewan can talk to Marisa and convinces her to join Ephraim's army.

Personality and character

Marisa is a quiet myrmidon who is not very sociable and is very dedicated to improving her skill at the sword. She even sleeps on her right side so she can quickly grab her sword with her left hand, her dominant hand.[1] She really is not mean-spirited or uncaring; instead, she is really quite shy and not very talkative. Sometimes, she lets others make decisions for her and just goes along with them; for example, she asks Gerik if he thinks she should be more sociable and follows his wish, although she does not do very well.[2] In another instance, she easily accepts that she and Tana are friends, although she is quite unfamiliar with the concept.[3]

Marisa is a member of Gerik's mercenary company. She is known as the Crimson Flash, both among her fellow mercenaries and outside fighters. She has had much experience fighting as a mercenary. She has feelings for Gerik, and tries to please him by acting "sociable".[2] To others, she is often thought of as intimidating, although she is just quite quiet and very dedicated to the sword. Her father was a very skilled swordsman of Jehanna who trained her from when she was young in the ways of the sword. He even had taught her not to move while sleeping.[4] She thinks of him as a parent and a teacher, but also a mountain she must conquer; in her fighting, she believes that once she can surpass her father, she will be able to accomplish anything. However, according to her, she is only at the base.[5] Still, she is very satisfied with her lifestyle.

Endings

Marisa, the Crimson Flash
Marisa became battalion leader for an elite mercenary force. Many men sought to challenge her to a duel, and none of them stood up to her blade.

Gerik and Marisa
Gerik remained a mercenary, and Marisa became his company's fencing instructor. Gerik returned the affection she gave him, although he was troubled to learn she was clumsy at everything but fighting.

Joshua and Marisa
Joshua returned to Jehanna with Marisa, where she pledged service to the crown and became the top swordfighter in the land. Joshua still loved games of chance, but when it came to Marisa, she was ever the winner.
