Julian and Kris
First conversation
Kris: Sir Julian, I see you're heading out. May I ask where to?
Julian: Just as I'd expect from Prince Marth's knight. You caught onto me quickly. The truth is, I was going to secretly gather information. I want to find clues as to where Lena might be.
Kris: I see... Sister Lena was your special someone, wasn't she?
Julian: Yeah. I used to be a common thief, but thanks to her I turned over a new leaf. I don't care what happens to me. I just want to see her smile again...
Kris: Sir Julian... If you'd allow me, please let me help too.
Julian: Huh? Is that alright?
Kris: Yes. That desire to do something for those precious to you is something I know well.
Second conversation
Julian:
Say, Kris. There's something I really want to ask of you. I wonder if you could teach me how to fight?
Kris: How to fight? But Sir Julian, you're a thief... Rather than battle, you'd do better staying in the rear, opening chests and doors...
Julian: Yes, you're right. But, I want to become stronger. Strong enough to protect Lena.
Kris: Sir Julian...
Julian: Ever since Lena disappeared, I've looked frantically for her everywhere... I even asked people who chanced to see her. According to them, when Lena was taken by the heretic bishops... she had a sad look on her face.
Kris: What does that mean...?
Julian: They didn't put her to sleep. Or use some spell to control her. That time, I wasn't far from her. Had Lena screamed, I'd have noticed for sure. But, she didn't. That's because she knew I'd be no match for them even if I rushed out to help. Were I a much stronger man, Lena wouldn't have been kidnapped. Knowing that, I just can't forgive myself...
Kris: ...
Third conversation
Kris: Sir Julian. It's good to train, but don't overdo it...
Julian: Thanks. But, I don't want to fail again. So...
Kris: Sir Julian, I understand why you'd blame yourself for Miss Lena's tragedy. But, I was thinking. Don't you think Miss Lena wouldn't seek your help even if you were stronger?
Julian: Come again?
Kris: It's possible that... Miss Lena just didn't want to see you in danger. So she chose to sacrifice herself instead of seeing someone else getting hurt... I don't know her, but that's the kind of woman I imagine from you. Am I off the mark?
Julian: ... Mmm... Yeah, that's just how Lena is. Always, she's thinking of others.... Instead of herself...
Kris: Sir Julian... I'll help you. Let's bring Miss Lena back together. After listening to your story, I now wish to meet Miss Lena.
Julian: Why, of course. If you meet Lena, I'm sure you'll get along with her too, Kris. She's as kind as an angel, after all...
Julian and Rickard
First conversation
Julian: Yo, Rickard. What you doin' there?
Rickard: Ohh! Chief...! Ehehehehe.
Julian: You're carrying a pretty hefty bag right there. It looks heavy too; need a helpin' hand?
Rickard: I-it's okay. This is mine, so I gotta carry it...
Julian: Liar. That ain't yours. How many corpses did you loot this time?
Rickard: That's Chief for you. You see through everythin'.
Julian: I'll let it slide this time, but... Don't even think about stealin' anythin' from this army.
Rickard: C'mon. Nobody minds a small-time thief like me.
Julian: So you're still goin' to... Fine, whatever.
Rickard: Eh? You not gonna stop me?
Julian: Yup. 'Cause there are a lot of guys much, muuuch scarier than me, in this army. Who knows what demented punishments they have in store for thieves and pilferers like yourself... Be careful, buddy. I wouldn't wanna see you with any missin' bits or somethin'.
Rickard: ...Hey, stop it, Chief. There's no way I'd do somethin' like that, right? I'm a noble thief, after all.
Julian: I see, so you're a "noble thief." ...Yep. ...Then, shall we get goin'?
Rickard: Eh? Where to?
Julian: You... were about to give away that gold to all the poor and needy, right? After all, you're a noble thief: a defender of the weak and downtrodden.
Rickard: Wha-whaaaaaat...!
Julian: Is there somethin' wrong?
Rickard: Y-you got me... Nothin' gets past you, huh, Chief.
Second conversation
Rickard: Oops... S-sorry!
Julian: What are you doin'? Are you sick or somethin'?
Rickard: It's weird... I ate my breakfast just right... Maybe not enough veggies?
Julian: Be careful, you.
Rickard: Ehehe... Purse, get! Seems like Chief's been gettin' rusty. Or maybe I've improved? Now, let's take a looksie... Wait, what... No purse. Not even mine. W-why?
Julian: Why, I wonder? Did you get rusty, or am I just better?
Rickard: Chief! So you knew...
Julian: You just don't learn, do you. Oh yeah, I got your purse like this the first time we met, didn't I?
Rickard: Yeah. Heh heh, I've challenged you many times after that, but I always lose.
Julian: And I can tell there are goin' to be many more times to come. You're an obstinate brat sometimes.
Rickard: I'm gonna tag along until I show you I can snatch your purse, Chief!
Julian: Heh, it's not goin' to be easy. Keep tryin', kid.
Third conversation
Rickard: Chief. Once you find Lena, are you really goin' back?
Julian: You tellin' me to go somewhere else?
Rickard: Don't you wanna get back to the business with me?
Julian: And why would I need to go back to bein' a thief...? How about YOU try turnin' over a new leaf?
Rickard: Ehh... I'm no good, ya know. All I can do is pick locks and steal stuff.
Julian: I was just like that, too. But, it all worked out in the end. If you want, I'll help you look for a job. What do you think?
Rickard: Hmmm... Nah, I'm fine. I... like this life. It's excitin', see.
Julian: ...I see. Do tell me if you change your mind.
Rickard: Okay. But if you're not comin' back, Chief, then I gotta look for a new partner. Hmm, a cute girl would be kinda nice... Hey Chief, what do you think of that girl with the hairband over there?
Julian: You little fink... You've no intention of goin' clean, huh?
