Personality

Istvan was motivated by a greed to claim the reward for stopping the Laguz Alliance on behalf of his master, as a result of the fierce competition between the nobles for the rewards and status,[2] and was disappointed to learn that he fought only beorc, which would fetch a lesser reward. According to Soren, he was a poor commander who effectively wasted his soldiers' abilities.[3] He spoke in a very simplistic way which mostly omitted articles.

Quotes

Battle quotes

What luck! Enemy comes in tiny numbers. Get up, comrades! We cannot let other army take reward! Crush enemy and gain glory for Lord Seliora!
— Istvan, as the boss of Part III, Chapter 2 in Radiant Dawn.
Istvan: I am Istvan, general of Lord Seliora's royal army! You, leader of sub-human filth! State your name!
Ike: I’m Ike of the Greil Mercenaries.
Istvan: Greil Mercenaries? Hm. Never heard of them! You are just small-time bandits, yes? Argh! If we had left behind dead bodies of sub-humans, our reward would have been bigger! My lord is not pleased with heads of bandits!
Ike: Oh, I wouldn't worry about our heads. You have no chance to win this fight. Leave while you can.

— Istvan, when fighting Ike in Part III, Chapter 2 of Radiant Dawn.

Death quotes

W-wait...! This cannot be! Our...reward...
