Appearance(s)

Hardin (ハーディン, Hardin) was the prince of Aurelis, the younger brother of its ailing king. Dubbed "Coyote" (草原の狼, Wolf of the Plains) by the people of Aurelis, during most of the War of Shadows he and the small band of Aurelian knights under his command were successful in staving off the Macedon occupation of the country and protecting the refugee Princess Nyna of Archanea, for whom Hardin eventually developed strong feelings. After the war, Hardin and Nyna married and he became the twenty-fourth king of Archanea; however, Nyna's lack of true reciprocation of Hardin's love eventually drove him into madness, paving the way for Gharnef to use the Darksphere to corrupt him into a tyrant, sparking the War of Heroes.

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light

Role

By the time Marth reached the Aurelis castle, Hardin, his brother, Nyna and the Aurelis knights had been forced out of the castle and cornered in a fortress. Upon hearing the news of Marth's approach, Hardin led his forces out to unite with Marth's and drive out the Macedon occupation, and from there fought in the united Altea/Aurelis/Archanea army for the rest of the War of Shadows. After the war he was married to Nyna, upon the advice of Boah to the latter.

Book 2

Role

Hardin's marriage to Nyna was somewhat strained, and upon learning that Nyna had merely proposed to him for practical purposes upon the urging of Boah and that she didn't actually love him, Hardin was struck with severe depression. Gharnef seized upon this opportunity to disguise himself as a merchant and approach Hardin to offer him the Darksphere, which twisted his grief into raw hatred. He handed Nyna over to Gharnef without hesitation, and used the Grust "rebellion" as a means to first draw Marth way from Altea, then frame him as an enemy of the empire and start a war against Altea.

Hardin appeared alongside squadrons led by Jeorge and Astram at the Chiasmir bridge, attempting to corner Marth's forces, but Marth instead escaped to Khadein. When Marth's army eventually arrived at Pales seeking to end Hardin's tyranny, Hardin challenged them but was slain. The hold of the Darksphere upon him was released as he died, and he expressed regret and sorrow for his actions.

Fire Emblem: Archanea Saga

Role

Hardin after the defeat of Ruben's forces
Hardin calls for help for Nyna

When a band of rogue Macedon deserters led by Ruben started attacking and pillaging Aurelian villages, Hardin appeared before Macedon's Princess Minerva in a village, and led her to the fortress where the deserters formed a base of operations. He, along with his knights Wolf and Roshea, formed a temporary alliance with Minerva and her Whitewings to eliminate the deserters and protect the people of Aurelis. Hardin later remarked that he was thoroughly impressed by what he saw of Minerva's combat prowess.

A few years later, Camus and the Sable Order successfully escorted Nyna to Aurelis to be placed under Hardin's protection, at the cost of being captured and tortured themselves. Hearing of their approach, Hardin led his forces out to combat the Dolhr army, meeting Nyna for the first time.
