First game

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light

The Hammer (Japanese: ハンマー Hammer) is an axe-type weapon which was introduced in Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light and has appeared in every game since Thracia 776. It is a heavy polearm designed to fight heavily armored units, and is very effective against Knights, Generals and similar classes. However, it is also very heavy even compared to other axes, slowing down its wielder prior to the removal of weight in New Mystery of the Emblem, and its accuracy is poor.

Hammer

More specifically, this weapon resembles a war hammer, a hammer mounted on a long handle designed for use in combat. War hammers rose to prominence in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries for their ability to injure foes in plate armor more effectively than swords.
