The Gold Knight (Japanese: 黄金騎将ゴールドナイト Gold Knight) is an advanced cavalry class which was introduced in Fire Emblem Gaiden. They are a rare third-tier promoted class and the final stage in class change lines for some cavalry classes which various Paladin variants promote to. In Gaiden they wield only lances, and in Radiant Dawn they wield both swords and axes while a counterpart class, the Silver Knight, wields lances instead as well as bows.

Gold Knights are, like their Paladin predecessors, defined by being well-balanced with decent stats all around. Their offensive prowess, durability and agility are all high if not outstanding, and their resistance is somewhat superior to that of most physically-inclined classes. As a mounted class, their most outstanding feature is their high movement which allows them to cross battlefields at a much greater rate than infantry, although in return they, like all cavalry, are significantly more hindered by terrain penalties.

In Gaiden, the Gold Knight is the final stage in the Cavalier's class change line, promoting from Paladins; additionally, Villagers have the ability to promote to Cavalier and eventually become Gold Knights as well. In Radiant Dawn, the Gold Knight is the final class for Sword Knights and Axe Knights, with both Blade Paladins and Axe Paladins promoting to Gold Knight.
