Fire Emblem Gaiden (ファイアーエムブレム外伝, Faiā Emuburemu Gaiden, literally "Fire Emblem Side-Story") is the second installment of the Fire Emblem series. It takes place on the continent of Valencia, where two heroes, Alm and Celica from the Kingdom of Sofia build an army to oppose the Dark God Doma of the Kingdom of Rigel.

Plot

To Sofia!

Alm, a youth from the village of Ram, is shown moving back and forth. Mycen, an old man, tells him that his sword training is over, but tells him not to leave the village. Near the eastern end of the village, he sees a group of villagers gathering near Luka, a soldier, who says that a General Dozer has captured Sofia's castle and killed the king. Luka is part of a liberation force, and has come to ask General Mycen to help them.

When Alm asks Mycen, Mycen angrily denies, disallowing Alm to join. He goes back to Luka and tells him that he will join in place of Mycen. Gathering Luka and the villagers Cliff, Robin, and Gray, he decides to travel to Sofia and help the liberation force. Along the way, he is attacked by a group of bandits.
