Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia (Japanese: ファイアーエムブレム Echoes もうひとりの英雄王, Fire Emblem Echoes: Another Hero-King) is a new Fire Emblem series title announced on January 18th in the Fire Emblem Nintendo Direct. It is a remake of the NES title Fire Emblem Gaiden.[1]

Plot

Currently nothing substantial has been revealed about the game's plot, though it presumably recounts the story of Fire Emblem Gaiden.

Gameplay

The game appears to use the same engine as Fire Emblem Awakening and Fire Emblem Fates, exact gameplay differences are not yet known.

The trailer claimed that it has all of what made Gaiden a unique title, specifically mentioning the free-roaming world map, dungeons,[2] and flexible character progression.

The official website also states the game is fully voiced,[3] which would mark this game as the first mainline Fire Emblem series title to have full voice acting.

A new character named Efi, a villager, was shown in Alm's party. This may be evidence that the avatar mechanic is included, like every game from New Mystery of the Emblem onward. An unknown unit can also be seen in one of the first maps, which may be another possible appearance. At the very least, this means new characters are being introduced for this remake.

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia

Valentia is the name of the continent the game is set on. An echo is a repeated sound, possibly referring to its remake status.
