Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War

The Book of Naga (Japanese: ナーガ Naga, or 聖書ナーガ Divine Tome Naga) is a regalia light magic tome introduced in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. It is the sacred light tome once wielded by Saint Heim, the leader of the Twelve Crusaders of Jugdral, bestowed upon him by the Divine Dragon god Naga after their blood-bond in the Miracle of Darna. It is the property of Heim's successors, the ruling Belhalla dynasty of the Kingdom of Grannvale, and can only be used by those who bear major Naga Holy Blood.

History

Bestowed upon Saint Heim by Naga herself at the Miracle of Darna, the Book of Naga is the strongest of the weapons of the Crusaders, and without it, the Crusaders' defeat of Loptyr would have been impossible.[1] Like the Forseti tome, the Book of Naga has an influence on the personality of its wielder, which resulted in the holy bloodline being named for Naga rather than Heim unlike most Crusader bloodlines.[2]

At some point after the ascension of Arvis to the position of Emperor of Grannvale, the tome was sealed away in Belhalla Castle contained in a box openable only by a key hidden in Empress Deirdre's circlet, possibly by Manfroy in order to prevent access to the only power capable of defeating the Loptyr-possessed Prince Julius. In the closing days of the Empire and with the approach of Seliph's liberation army, Arvis himself moved it to the treasure room at Velthomer Castle, where it was later found by Seliph after the conquering of the castle. Julia, Deirdre's daughter and inheritor of her circlet, opened the box and obtained the tome, and as the sole surviving major-blooded descendant of Heim, used it to defeat Julius.

Trivia

  • In Genealogy of the Holy War, the Book of Naga gives the largest cumulative equipping stat bonus of any weapon in the Fire Emblem series, totalling 80 points of stat increase.
  • The Book of Naga's English name was leaked in the source code of the Awakening official website's page on SpotPass when it was updated on February 4, long before the tome itself was available in the game.[3]

Seliph: Couldn't any of the other tribesmen take on Loptyr?
Lewyn: Doesn't seem likely. Even with all their power combined, they'd still need Naga's.
