Swordmasters (ソードマスター, Sōdomasutā, Swordmaster in Japan) are a sword-wielding class present in Fire Emblem. Their first appearance was in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War and have been used in each game of the series since then.

This class focus on skill and speed; their enhanced critical rate allows them to overlook their rather low strength and do considerable damage, even when against units with high defense.

Swordmaster is a possible promotion for myrmidons. Usually, swordmasters cannot be further promoted, except in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, where they can become trueblades.
